In order to help with upgrading Elasticsearch from 5.x to 6.x, the docs say to install Kibana to make use of the Upgrade Assistant. Here are details on that procedure.
Ed. Note: The official docs are wrong wrt to upgrading with Upgrade Assistant because it does not work for 5.x (which is unsupported).
